When launched in 1995, the base model Dodge Neon was faster from 0-60 than the V6 Mustang of the same year, with a time of 9 seconds versus the Stang's 9.8.

Probably shouldn't tell them:
the 92 Prelude Si was 7.8
94 Prelude (VTEC) was 7.2
Eagle Talon Tsi was 6.6
92 Integra GSR was 6.8
RX-7 was 5.3- 6.0
300ZX 2+2 was 7.5
Basically, the Mustang at the time was still uninteresting if not for the badge, RWD and an engine with room to grow.

V8s really weren't much better until Ford went Retro though. Ford was selling the badge more than the car was selling itself.
